Verizon Text Messaging Not Really Fair

So i send a lot of text messages, well most of them are when im signed onto AIM through my phone not using mobile web

I have the 2500 text message plan through verizon for 19.99.

Verizon includes received messages in that 2500, but only charges .02 cents when you go over the 2500 for received and .10 for each one sent. I came from AT&T where the message plan was for sent messages only. How can they include received messages when you have no control over the people sending them to me? I mean i've had people text me 10 times with something they couldve sent in 2.

SO in reality i only get 1250 messages assuming a response for each one, and thats not including the BS spam messages i get while online.

Ok im dont ranting. Thanks for listening. I had to get it off my chest after checking my bill.

Yeah, freaking verizon is retarded like that... Which is why I make it a point to NEVER use that AIM crap. I know people that do, and they rack up astronomical charges for going waaaaay over their message limits. And every time I see those people on AIM on their cell phone, I want to cry for them. IMO, nothing on AIM could possibly be SO serious that I need to get on when I am not near a computer.

1. stop messaging so much
2. meet some people in real life and talk to them.

;)

im on instant messenger with my g/f while at work......i would just sign on but its blocked over here. plus there isnt a good way to keep it on the D/L.

i really only get to send 30 a day, cause i receive at least 30 and another 20 from random people i dont respond to.

Im not denying that its a lot of messages, and im over doing it.......just stating that they are charging you for incoming messages. At least i can not answer calls i dont want.

Also there is no way to track messages on their site, its a shot in the dark each month to figure out where you are.

There is a way to deal with this. I have a g/f too. It's called get to work and stop IMing each other on the company's time. There's plenty of time for smoochy smooch during the other 16 hours you're not at work.

You can't IM on a computer and keep it on the d/l, but nobody thinks anything of you typing on your phone all day long?

Do you use the AIM fowarding for your phone, or are you actually signed on to AIM from the phone itself?

With AIM, you can set it up so that only people on your buddy list can IM you. Settings from AIM usually show up when you sign on at different places... like people on my block list from AIM still won't be able to IM me when I sign on to AIM express at school... so why don't you log onto AIM and make it so only people on your buddy list can IM you.

If you are getting so many messages you don't want, then simply create a new screen name and add only the people you want to talk to while on your phone to the buddy list.

Heh, the guy I supervise does that non-stop throughout the day, even during video conference meetings.

Mind you, in two weeks time, that will need to be changed to "supervised."

Do you realize how much money is being wasted on text messaging crap? Think about it. At least $20 a month gone down the toilet just to text message someone.

i realize

im just saying i feel there should be a way to track messages left on the site. this way i know to slow down.

or even only charge for incoming after 2500, since they cost only 1/5th of a sent message.
