Verizon. Should I do 2 year contract or go prepaid?

They still have contracts for existing customers.
Just not new customers.

The benefit is to be able to subsidize your phone up front.
Contact = Get $600 phone for $200 today.
No contract = You buy your own $600 phone.

So, yea, contract is basically the same as making payments on a $600 phone.

Except to switch from my contract plan to their new plan setup would result in a few dollars savings per month but I would lose subsidies on 5 lines. So, it's not really the same

Typical break down is $X for a data pool + $Y per line charge. That per line charge is $20-30 less without contract. etc.

This is the key.

Okay, forget all the BS I've spouted in this thread so far, I am much more well informed now.

We went into Verizon over the weekend and threw the contract out the window. Line charges with Verizon on contract are $40. Line charges off contract are $20. Got the wife a 128GB iPhone 6S (for the price of a 64GB, yay holiday promotions) I did not upgrade, my LG G2 is still fast and awesome. Our bill is precisely what we thought it would be, with the $27 a month added on for her phone payment.

Being on a contract has been the cheapest option for me for quite some time when comparing what I get and plan cost versus other plans.

That being said, my current phone is a nexus and I won't hesitate to leave my current plan is I could find a service plan that is cheaper now that I'm out of contact.

Pure? No chance in hell I am paying $600 for a new 2015 phone.
I usually stick 1 or 2 gens back for the value sweet spot.

LG G2 seems to be working great again,
and I plan to milk it for as many years as possible.

Pure starts at $400 not $600.
