The second bit of news has to do with the TBolt ads which have been live on Verizon’s YouTube channel for almost a week now. All of them are now set to private and can no longer be viewed in any capacity including the rooftop spot. We thought that all issues with the device had been figured out once they had 2 different ads running on TV, but now that both have been pulled, it’s hard to believe the device is going to be here any time soon.

And the last bit of news is pretty random, but actually comes off as positive if it ends up sticking. We had a few tipsters submit the picture you’ll see below which is of a shopping cart on HTC’s site with the Thunderbolt inside of it. The $699 price is the real story here, especially after seeing $749 from Best Buy over and over again and actually almost had us cracking a miniature smile

Most controversial phone ever? :p

What a clusterfuck. I bet Apple is loving this. So many Verizon customers were waiting for these 4G phones and not getting the iPhone 4, and every day a few thousand more customers are deciding to wait for the 5.

Don't forget the Bionic. :p

Seriously though, Verizon needs to fix their LTE network's interaction with CDMA. :/

Was it scheduled for a date, pushed back at least twice, then have the commercial removed and then possibly constantly change the price?

It was scheduled, rescheduled, had production problems with the screen, and got scrapped. I really wanted that phone.

Hopefully the Thunderbolt doesn't follow that path. I'm not getting it, but that would really suck for you guys.

I thought they scrapped it because the Incredible came out, which they figured was good enough.

There really is no interaction. Except on a border cell where the phone is told which PN's to measure to begin an IRAT handoff.

The pain of the matter, from what I can guess is that both radios have to be on all the time in an LTE core area. CDMA to receive pages for voice and LTE to terminate incoming packet requests. Anytime you have two radios running, it sucks the jigahertz out of the battery. :p

It would be much simpler if people didn't have to receive calls. :p

Is it worth just getting a 3G phone for right now and then get a 4G phone after the 2 years re-upped when the network is more widespread?

Since they don't actually sell any 4G phones now, kinda moot. :p But, I'd definitely look at the LTE coverage in your area when they finally do launch.

Well, I did put in my address in the map for LTE on the Verizon site and I'm not covered here. I live north of Philly and that's the closest place that has 4G. I'm not in Philly much. Hell, I'm up in Williamsport, PA more than Philadelphia I think. So I don't know if 4G is worth it or not considering where I am and that maybe I should wait 2 years for the coverage to get bigger.

The pricing will be a factor too. The LTE phones are going to be powerful, high end devices. Not to see their 3G offerings won't be, the Droid 3, X2, and Incredible 2 look to be pretty good. But if the 4G and 3G phones cost close to the same, you can choose either.

People are bashing Verizon and HTC for this but what are they supposed to do? They had a problem and they are doing the right thing not releasing the phone until they solve. Its not the end of the world.

I would agree. People would be more pissed if they released the phone riddled with problems and bugs.

I'd rather have them delay it and fix the bugs now then release and it supposedly say they will fix it. I'd rather have it work the way it's supposed to out of the box.

This really sucks though... I was going to get the Thunderbolt primarily because it was coming out now. By the time it is available though, the Bionic and the ip5 will be out so i'll have to choose between those.

You are right , to a point... people would be more pissed about a phone being released with problems. But they should be bashed because these kind of issues should have been resolved before you start putting out commercials and allowing places like Best Buy to take money for pre-orders or even announcing prices. Once you get to that phase all those issues should really have been taken care of.

I think the Droid had more hype. But it was Verizons first Android so it had to work, or else it woulda sunk them.
