This is supposedly a wireless mobile hot spot by Novatel.

Don't have one, but there are some reviews out there.

Sounds like it's great for portable use, but if you want an EVDO router for home there are probably better options out there. EVDO routers aren't anything new, the MiFi is just the first time that one has been available from the cell provider.

I am looking at it strictly as a "on the road" tool with my lappy.

There are various 3rd party ones that are probably cheaper. This one is just from Verizon.

I just got one and I love it already. The internet responds quickly, and I can now get online with my iTouch anywhere I am.

Sprint and Verizon have them. They are great and I know many people that use the mifi and keep it with them and hook their iphone up to it since AT&T's coverage always sucks.

Well, the advantage to the MiFi is that it is your own personal, battery powered WiFi hotspot. Has like a 20-30 foot range, can support up to 5 connections, and as I said, is battery powered so it doesn't drain your laptop's battery.

Plus it is on Verizon meaning a faster and more ubiquitous network than AT&T.
