Well, they need to run fiber optic cable from the street to the box on your house, and there are only certain areas they can do that. (i.e. They can't run it under your driveway, through your front yard, to the other side of the house.) Besides, they already have installed junctions at the street, near your box.Originally posted by: Imager
I'm looking forward to it and hoping that it can be a nice clean install. I really don't want 200ft of cable running along my baseboards, haha. If they are runing all new cable anyway, I don't see why they couldn't move the current box to some other location if necessry.Originally posted by: Wingznut
I just got FIOS today, and it rocks! I opted for the $30 package (5 Mbps/2 Mbps). Using the Speakeasy Speedtest, I'm getting: Download Speed: 5036 kbps.
I'm using my existing MS MN-700 Wireless Router. As long as your router will do PPoE, then (I believe) any router should work just fine.
My PC's are upstairs and not in a room with an accessible exterior wall. I ran a CAT5 cable through the wall into the master bedroom, under the edge molding, to the exterior wall. And the installer ran it through the outside wall down to the box outside. It's a very nice/clean install and looks great.
So, it's up to you if you want a cleaner install.
