DSL goes down at work.

I find out modem died. No lights. Nuttin'.

Call Verizon.........

A trip thru India, one hour and 3 people later I get a "tech". All I want is to know how to get a new modem, swap it out, have them bring one (A Verizon repair facility is directly behind my work building).

Another half-hour later.......they've determined that I have a "gated" switch. I need an "AMT/ATM?" switch. New modem will be needed. No physical presence to swap modem........(keep in mind I'm in So Cal).

I tell them that it is beyond ridiculous that I can change modems 12 times in one day if I want to via my local cable office for my home HSI, yet they need to put my work HSI down for 48 hours to make this switch *and* send me a new modem.

2007?? Or 1997??
