Anyone know if it is possible to use Verizon DSL in safe mode in Windows 2000? My computer has a boot problem, and it appears that it can be corrected if I install the latest service pack. However, when I boot to safe mode with networking, and try to login with Verizon DSL, I get a message saying that the IVasion PoET adapter is not available. I checked the device manager, and it reports that the device is working properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I do not think is posible. When you boot in safe mode only the minimal drivers are loaded. Even the display card will only show a few colors.
I do not know what exactly is your problem but it is strange that a boot problem maybe corrected by a service pack. But, you may be able to download the service pack using another computer and into floppies. But I will try to boot with confirmation step by step, that way you will know what is causing your problem. It maybe a simple driver problem and not need a Windows service pack.

Well the problem is that when I get to the login prompt, the computer gives an error message saying "The system could not log you in because the domain EGG is not available." I did a google search, and I found that Win2k had a bug that would not allow a user to log on if the domain controller was overloaded. I just assumed this was the same problem I was having. However, I should also not that upon some boot up, the computer powers down the hard disk, shows a blue screen, and reboots before I can read the error message.

Thanks!

safe mode has very few of the drivers operational.

unless you enabled safemode with networking, it won't work.

if you have another computer to use, you can do it.

I believe safe mode with networking will load the ethernet card driver, and all other network adapters.
