The price for the Motorola Droid dropped to $49.99 today on both Amazon.com and Walmart.com.

My Amazon order for $99.99 was in the mail and they are giving me a $50 refund.

Hopefully iphone starts selling to verizon, then it will be a plan war! The way I see it all these smartphones will be almost free and if they can get the "EVERYTHING" plans down to 30-40 bucks I'd probably jump on the bandwagon.

Until then I'll be using my prepaid phone since I HARDLY ever talk on a cell phone. If someone calls me on my cell I just call back on VOIP, like magic jack or skype, etc...etc...

The family plan to get the same minutes+text I have now would be $10 more a month. Plus I would rather buy from amazon anyway

It's the REQUIRED net part that chaps my ass. I have an iphone and most of the time I'm in a wifi area so have free net access. Having map access everywhere is convenient, but not necessary. I'd gladly save my $30 a month if I had the choice.

And why isn't the Droid able to be used internationally? I have a Motorola cell phone that I bought in Spain, so I know Motorola makes them. It's probably the only reason I won't get a Droid, besides the mandatory data plan.

So mine is borked. Won't charge so time to RMA. Plus after five days the switch hasn't gone through so I'm still carrying the old sprint crackberry! Arghh! Hope vz service is better than sprint or I'll be joining the art iphone masses.
