I guess I'm just too old school, I use a computer at home for the internet and gaming, a phone is used to make calls with to other live humans. I don't ever want to watch a movie on a 4" screen or even You Tube vids and update Facebook crap on those tiny ass screens. That's why I have 30" inch monitor and a 60" TV. The phone companies can stick all the 5 gb caps and overpriced rate plans up their collective asses. Iphone? EVO? Who gives a crap....man I got other things to worry about, like how to pay for the TV and computer, food on the table, etc.

not all of us lead such simple lives.

Same here although I'm only 29. If I want to watch a movie or play a game, it had better be on my big monitor or big TV both with surround sound. I never understood portable gaming systems or now portable internet devices. If I want something portable, I'll take a book with me.

I don't spend a ton of time with movies and games, so when I do, I want the fullest experience I can get. That's certainly not on a 4" screen.

That's a shame. Feel for ya.

Why are you in a "gadgets gear and phones" sub forum when you supposedly don't have the time to worry about those kinds of things?

Actually it's just to irritate you. But I also thought this was where someone could research regular phones too, not just internet/movie/game playing/stereo receiver/phones. Oh well....

no youre right, it is a place for that. problem is, the sensationalist smart phones kind of monopolize the threads here, so without asking direct questions youre likely to not find much info on "regular" phones.

as for why anyone would want to watch a movie or play a game on such a small screen, when they could just do it at home with surround sound and the big monitor/ screen... i have a kick ass 65" tv with surround sound, 2 gaming rigs as well as 2 other systems for kids to use, multiple game consoles and all kinds of other goodies at home. unfortunately, i dont find myself at home regularly to enjoy them. so, i make do by playing stupid little games on my phone/ zuneHD, listen to music and watch movies when i have time. its a smaller screen for sure, not the optimum at all but when i have down time and none of my comforts of home available, its nice to not have to sit there and stare at a wall.

and sometimes i do read a book, that isnt lost on me either. im not special, so id say there were many people in the same situation.

You don't really irritate me, I just thought that it was funny that you don't have time to worry about these kinds of things, yet here you are.

Yep, same here. I spend a decent amount of time away from home and I get bored easily. Also, it's nice to just have one smart phone to carry around instead of carrying an mp3 player, camera, phone, gps, pda, etc...

Actually, most people who have fancy cell phones do have simple lives. They just like to feed their own fantasy that their life is exciting and important to the world.

I've been feeding that fantasy long before I bought a smart phone.

Well no phone lasts forever and they have to be replaced from time to time, hence my visit here over the last week or so. And I'm so glad to have done so, you meet such nice people on this forum.

I'm not really sure what kind of response you expected when you implied that those of us that care about smart phones are wasting our time. Like someone else said, if you have a question about a phone just go ahead and start a thread, you'll get plenty of helpful responses. Dumb phones just aren't that interesting, hence the lack of threads about them.

You should stop by the "video cards and graphics" sub forum and tell them they're wasting their time with graphics cards, internal graphics are all anyone needs. But don't let me take up any more of your time, I know you need to get back to worrying about paying for your TV and computer, sorry to distract you.

Edit - FWIW, I used to think smart phones were pointless too, then I got one. I'll never go back, even though I can't even use it at work.

i agree. ive started carrying the zune around just to play with it, but im really starting to love the interface. and the only downside compared to my phone when watching movies is having to wear the headphones. the screen is by far superior, and the sound is pretty good as well. ive replaced my regular p&s camera with my phone long ago, thats one thing i love about the samsung phones. the cameras are top notch so far.

I feel honored that you have quoted me 3 times. You are an outstanding citizen and a wonderful human being. I wish you were running for office so I could vote for you too!!! This must be my lucky week on the forums to have met such an articulate and interesting young man.

Do you go to a movie review site and talk about how you don't have time to watch movies?

What you are doing is stupid, plain and simple. You obviously care, otherwise you would not be here.

Such a witty comment, you are obviously a great kid and have made your parents very proud. It's an honor to have communicated with you. Thank you for a profound and far reaching comment.

You're really strange.
