Verizon cell phone internet

Has anyone here connected their cell phones up to their laptop and been able to get connected to the internet through the phone?? I read about this technique at This Website I got the USB cable and everything but can't seem to get it to connect correctly. If anyone uses this now then let me know so I'll be sure that Verizon didn't turn the service off. Thanks.

P.S. I think its something that non-evdo phones can do and not hte newer evdo capable phones.
