Verifying DMI Pool Data

I just built a new system today, and for some reason it stops booting up at this prompt "Verifying DMI Pool Data...." I've tried disconnecting everything and connecting it again, but no luck. Anybody know what might be the problem? I'm desperate. Thanks.

Try removing all the cards (exept your display card o'cource) and leave only basics connected, then try boot. If it works then insert one card at a time until you get into the same problem. Then try putting that card into another slot and try again, then rearange the others also and try again. If no go, then I don't know. Maby you can check your BIOS settings. Just be sure you know what you are doing in there.

Yeah, just put in the cpu, RAM, and video card, go into BIOS and reset it to default. Try to boot from there. if it is not ok, then you know what can be wrong. If it is ok, start putting in cards one by one, till you find out what goes wrong. Maybe some IRQ conflict or so. mobo nowadays like sharing IRQ, causing all kind of funny things.

Be patience, try to find some joyce doing it

Pancho, 90% of the time when the system hangs at the "Verifying... " prompt, it's related to a device connected to one of the IDE controllers causing trouble. Disconnect everything from the IDE controllers and try booting with just the video card, memory and cpu in there.

Go into the bios, and reload the default settings. You might even have to reflash the bios with the latest version to make sure the bios itself is not fubarred.

More than likely though, it's something related to an IDE device.

I've tried that at least 4 times now, I tried it using a different motherboard and it worked just fine....so I'm guessing they gave me a faulty motherboard. Thank you all for your help.

Pancho, it appears you have a motherboard with a faulty IDE controller, or that the memory you have doesn't agree with that particular motherboard.

I had similar problems with my abit BE6 board. I was using the udma-66 with a non udma harddrive. It should have still worked but the drivers for the 66 were buggy. I would try another harddrive in the IDE channel and just try the basics to see if you can get past that screen.

this is a nasty problem that is hard to detect, I had the problem with
3 motherboards and it turned to be 3 different things . it was the ram
on one computer, it was the harddrive on another and it was the motherboard on the third .hope this helps to narrow it down (yeah right)

Do this:
1. Reboot your system and go into your bios.
2. I can't remember exactly where it is located in the award bios, but change your external and internal cache to disable.
3. Save and exit.
4. It will update and should boot up. Your system will be VERY slow because of this.
5. Reboot again and go back into your bios and change both back to enable. This should take care of your problem.

I have the same problem with it hanging on verifying DMI pool on my BxMaster using the DMA66 control with a DMA66 drive. It occurs randomly. I have been reading about this am going to try installing the newer bios first and see what happens. Other thing I have read is to set the bios settings to default and boot to a floppy then reboot normally. I'll see how it works. Didn't have time yesterday to try these but hopefully tonight.

Solved the problem yet?

I had a similar problem and I'm with tagej. I think it is the IDE channel or the drive. With mine I had to zero-fill the drive with the IBM utiity before I could get NT installed. The drve wasn't being recognized correctly after moving it from an ata66 channel to a ata33 channel. I have the famous (or infamous) Abit BP6 mb.
