Verifying burned DVD's

I've recently discovered, much to my annoyance, that even though a DVD may burn correctly, sometimes it will fail to play back. Short of watching them all the way through, anyone have a suggestion for testing them? I was testing them by skipping through all the chapters, but this doesn't catch everything.
