There's also an OfficeMax $10 off of $20 coupon for in-store purchases (good through May 24th) - Google search on OfficeMax 15 off of 75 and select the SECOND hit. So if you can find this Verbatim deal in-store, you can get a fantastic price on these DLs. Of course, these are probably the Made In India discs.

thanks for the update Shira they are most likely the MII discs but finding the MIS discs is almost impossible now not to mention they cost 40 bucks for 20 most of the time

Is there really that big of a difference between the MII and MIS??

you really don't want to find out the hard way. if you can find the MIS, take em and run

No love here in Philly. Went to 2 different OfficeMax so far and both refuse to honor the "reproduced coupon" Probably wasted more money on gas going to those stores than what I could have saved!

These are one of the only media that will burn .iso files well everytime (considering you have a quality burner).

ZetaEpyon asked:

How can you tell if they're the MIS? Is it marked on the package itself?

Yes, marked on label

Why not get these instead. $19.99 for 25 brand name discs. Was very frustrated with OM, so I headed to their competitor next door.

Because Memorex is not name brand. They can use anyone to source those DL DVDs while Verbatim (at least ones made in Singapore) are made by MKM.

maybe, but i've more coasters with verbatim than with memorex. if we really need to archive things long term then we should be buying archivable dvd's anyways

Where did you get coupons? Did you get them in the mail or did OfficeMax accept print out (the 10 off 20 says not valid if copied)?

Some stores take them and some won't. I think he just got lucky!

FWIW I ran by my local store yesterday and found plenty of MIS but they were $39.99 and they didn't care what the website said!

The archival quality isn't the issue with "cheap" media - the estimate is that burned DVDs will last several decades (this is for once-writable media; re-writable media is a disaster waiting to happen).

But for most burners, the success rate for Made-in-Singapore Verbatim DVD+R DL media seems to be quite a lot higher than for any other DL media.

To improve burn success further, download and ALWAYS use ImgBurn (it's freeware). It is MUCH better than any other burning application.
