i have seen 4x + drives or the pioneer A05 for $150 i would try to get in on one of those deals

one will pop up within a week or 2
 
The verbatim is supposed to be on sale at OD for $120 after a small rebate (as well as the memorex for $79 with no rebate)...
 
The reason all these are dropping is due to NEC chipsets being manufactured like crazy. But one of the biggest reasons is that the Lite-On 4X DVD+RW Burner is out and should be available for purchase anyday now for around $130. I'd wait for the lite-on (4X 14mins or 2.4X 22mins).

I remember predicting about 3-4 weeks ago that we were seeing the leading edge of a major price decline on these drives when someone was raving about $200 for a generic +/- drive. Now just a few weeks later they are going for mid-$100's. (I even posted about a 4X +/- at Beastbuy for $169 2 days ago.) Yet does anyone say, "Hey Snatchy, you sure were right-on with that one"? Nope. That's ok. I'm just happy knowing that I saved people a bunch of money 😉
 
its an nec 1100a if its a + one.


its funny when they had the iomega, it was just a bare OEM NEC with no iomega markings at all. the real iomega is a bare NEC 1100a, but yeah i got no box last time. possibly this is the same type of deal.
 
I made it into the Gardena, CA OD today and picked up the last Memorex. 🙂

It will be interesting to see what comes to market soon but I am quite happy with $79 for a DVD writer.

I think we'll be seeing sub-$100 DVD burners by year's end. I think the +/- drives will hang out $120-$150 with newer 8X models taking top dollar.
