also you need to plan in the winter. the roads are not always clear. the one guy with a huge 4x4 will ask i fwe need something when he goes into town.

I have been thinking of putting in a whole house generator. i have a small one that will run the fridge and heater. but it won't last long.

as for satalite. for TV its fine. i never had a issue with it. For internet? fuck it sucks. i was sopposed to have a 1.5 connection. I rarely got that. Also if you went over 1gig of download in a month they locked you down to 33.6 download rates. That's if it was even working! it would go out in any kind of bad weather. When it did work yeah it was faster then dialup (had that as backup) but it still sucked.

About 3 years ago we had a company come in with "wireless dsl" its 6m (they just upped it from 3m) and pretty reliable but it does have a 1 gig cap (think they upped that to 3) with free VOIP!

My driveway is about 500 feet long, but it's paved and I have a plow for my ATV to clear it. Other than that though, I live in the best school district in the area, so they keep the roads plowed really well. That's the nice thing where we're at. We've got the atmosphere of being in the country, but we're really only 5-10 minutes from town.

lucky you. I live in Dekalb IL and its the worst county in IL when it comes to plowing and road repair. the "township' road commissioner is soposed to tell them what roads to do 1st. guess what ones he had done? his road and his wife's way to work (they live way out in the country. only house on the road and its gravel!) and they ignore the school bus route.

but he got kicked out of office so who knows what will happen this year. the new guy did ask my ex-wife (she was the buss driver) her route.
