Does anyone know if the electronic mosquito repellers work? I am going to Maine this July and I'm going to be outside a lot...I wanna make sure I still have some blood left when I get back on the plane. Any suggestions to keep away from those STUPID bugs?

that's pretty cool! I think I'll get one for my mom. She's really susceptible to mosquito bites.
*edit*

Scarpozzi - Start smoking. Mosquitoes hate smoke. :) Oh, they also hate garlic. So eat lots of that too.
I tried one of those wristband things and, well, the mosquitoes stayed away from my wrist. :frown:

I thought this was for use after some of the local flamers got a hold of you. :)

If you eat a ton of garlic, the bugs aren't the only ones who are going to stay away from you :p

Mosquitoes don't inject venom, just their saliva, which causes an allergic reaction. Hence the swelling.

You can actually develop an immunity to their saliva, which results in no apparent effects after being bitten - but it requires one to suffer through a lot of mosquitoe bites...

Sooooooo! Not a hot deal - just go get bitten a lot - then you'll never suffer from swelling and itchiness ever again! Why spend $18?! J/JK

Seriously though, good post perfectlysane ;)

***EDIT***

Mosquitoes home in on carbon dioxide, so as long as you don't breathe, you won't get bitten.

I am from Minnesota, I am a mosquito expert, all of us here are. The electronic mosquito repellers do not work. The best repellents contain DEET, the active ingredient in repellents that are applied to the skin. It's the next best thing to being dead.
