I wouldn't say "dud". You're only 70mhz short of him, and at a lower Vcore. Makes sense...there's gonna be some flux.

Well my vcore is lower because its not stable at a higher oc with a higher vcore, so I turned it down. Even at 1.6 vcore 2750 MHz isnt stable. I think its my mobo though, vcore fluxes from 1.6 to 1.565

I'd hardly call a 70 mhz difference a dud either. You still have just about a 25% overclock!

Extreme overclock will generally cause some sort of damage to the CPU. You're not the only one to go from 300 to 240 in a short period of time. I suspect high Vcore has something to do with this. I would not exceed 1.55Vcore.

I'm so tempted in getting one of those OC beasts, but I think waiting for the M2 is worth it.

Hmm..I have been running a A643200 winny at 1.6v for nearly 9mo with no issues...pretty sure these have the same stck vcore..I think under 1.65v is probably ok with good cooling

2.93 ghz for benching,... 2.8 is perfectly stable for gaming... venice 3500+ LBBLE

all 11 multipliers, vcore didnt need changing up to about 2.7 ghz,..after that it needs volts fast... 1.65 for 2.8ghz ... 1.75 for 2.93ghz ..

idle 28/30 degrees celcius
load 45/50 degrees celcius ... thermalright xp90 + zalman 80mm fan..
msi k8n neo2

Wow, you guys all have some serious overclocks, even the 3000+ and 3200+'s do. I bought my Venice when it first came out in the retail channel, and I remember everyone getting the same exact thing as me, 2.4-2.6. I guess the yields improved.

Don't mean to hijack the thread.

Shouldn't a stock cooler be sufficent if the chip indeed will overclock?

Unless of course you increase the voltage.
