Dude. The reason that the US is the global superpower is because it's been insulted from global wars that have decimated former global powers.
Your President seems to want to start up a bunch of wars on his own doorstep. Now while this makes a nice change for Europe I would say that it's probably an option that you want to avoid.
I'm wondering about all this. Is it as advertised, an attempt to limit drug smuggling? Or is that a smoke screen? Oil's cheap now, right? Divert attention from Epstein files?

I imagine such a kidnapping op has been drilled for ... a long time. With detailed knowledge of the layout.

We are laughing at you - you realize that, right?
Still haven’t refuted the original point that Congress has been irrelevant so all the hand wringing about the gang of 8 and all that other bullshit is especially hilarious.

Just made a bowl of popcorn
We have like three or four different versions of what's going on. Including, via Reuters, the accusation from opposition that the regime conspired with Trump to coup Maduro.

Always expect massive amounts of disinformation thrown around that conveniently serves the parties disseminating it.

So how is kidnapping the head of state of a country going to limit drug smuggling? And which drugs?

You are living in a bad country. It will be remembered in history as a bad nation that invaded it's neighbours for spurious reasons.

there 100% was inside assistance in order to pull this off, no question about that, the real question is if it's enough to shift to a new dictator

The idea that this was about drug smuggling is not the full picture. If it were then why did Trump pardon the previous President of Honduras?

Drug smuggling is the pretext for siphoning off oil.

I think this is probable but the understanding of whatever deal might have been made could be pretty different between the regime and Trump.

It's not about oil. It's about power and control.

So any Leader in North and South America Countries are free buffet? I don't see the silver lining here AT ALL since no countries in the time zones can stop that from happening. Who is next? Cuba?
What they can do is organize fighters, cross the border, and strike soft targets. We'll call it terrorism, but this is how you fight asymmetrical warfare.

Congress, Senators, Judges, they all have homes. POTUS has family. SCOTUS isn't in a fortified bunker either. And with modern drone warfare? I mean... JFC this shit will go downhill REALLY FAST.
Other nations can absolutely strike, and strike hard. It just won't be military VS military. You go around and gut the underbelly. You use drones on critical infrastructure, people, etc.

It is open season for anyone interested, and Trump just made a TON of North, Central, and South Americans interested.

It’s definitely about oil, through power and control.
You can't just go into a country and start siphoning off it's oil because you kidnapped the president!
There's still a regime and an army there. Any oil companies are going to be leary in the extreme about spending millions of dollars on equipment to extract crude that might get blown up any minute.

Anyone with a sense of reason in this country knows its not about drug smuggling.

Yeah I have been and I’ve seen it continually be eroded by Trump, the GOP, and the Supreme Court; and enabled by the pretty stupid population.

But if they fuck with the 2028 Presidential Election, they’re gonna find out by lots of people who care.
no offense, but I feel that you're wildly optimistic on this one.

If you want to be repaid for stuff you wrote off as a loss decades ago you must pour billions into Venezuela when the oil price is $57 is not what I would call an attractive offer.
Democrats should vow to prosecute any company or person who steals Venezuelan Oil.
Hell, we'll even deport them.

Unfortunately USA hasn't experienced a war for a few centuries and it's citizens are living too good of a life to care revolting. You have an uprising when you're seeing hardship, not when most of America has it good. Western Europe also.

That's why you don't see any decisive movement against Putin or Trump. You get out of your home, sun is shining, you have running hot water, electricity, TV, social media, businesses works, everything is good, you don't want to lose all that to go die in a dirty trench somewhere, hungry and cold. And most people can't see a few chess moves in front, that if certain actions are not stopped, that trench to die in becomes inevitable.

Remember, guns are everywhere in USA, and if the 1/3 of the country tries to rebel against Trump regime, the other 1/3 that voted for him will defend and who knows how the silent third will act? Plus the special ice army he is building. If he doesn't die until March, I think you're heading for civil war. The pu$$ies that you have now in congress aren't gonna stop him

Excuse me for not just accepting the potential impending authoritarianism as if it’s a foregone conclusion. And expecting many true patriots to also feel that way. If not what the fuck has the past 250 years of American history (trials and tribulations included) been about.
Fuck this defeatist bullshit.

Sure, I agree; but the intention is to commandeer the oil reserves and refineries to get sweetheart deals for ExxonMobil, Chevron (who is already stationed there), etc.

If January 6, 2021 can happen based on a lie. A rebellion hundreds of times larger can happen based on the truth.
But sure armed conflict is of course not out of the question. It would almost be a guarantee unfortunately.

Odd that under Biden you didn’t think that.

I think you would agree that you don’t have any fixed ideas.

It's not defeatism, it's just lack of conviction. Unfortunately I think the people are too anesthesized to care. If they weren't, Trump will have been impeached by popular demand.

Many people are asking how the simple German citizen could support Hitler? And after he died, almost no one acknowledged they voted for him... It's because the majority of people are NPCs. Yeah, tragic, but lack of logical training and propaganda made Americans believe they are living in the best country in the world. Yeah. For the ruling class of billionaires.

So, my guess is the frog is already almost at the boiling point and when that will happen, it will be very bad very fast. And most of the people will march on with the new maga nazi usa

Edit. The institutions that could have stopped Trump have collapsed. He is not alone, just the tip of a very large spear of Uber mensch

Umm. How is this any different to the rest of US history? Ask the native Americans, Blacks, the persecution of the left under McCarthyism, Kent state protesters...

For all the US talks about freedom it's always been an opressive state.

I'd assume that most companies would want a stable place to do business rather than... well whatevers going on in South America right now!
