Venezuela Chavez says "Comrade" Obama more left-wing

OutHouse

seriously how can you people who are in lock step with what obama is doing defend him and say he isn't a socialist?

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday that he and Cuban ally Fidel Castro risk being more conservative than U.S. President Barack Obama as Washington prepares to take control of General Motors Corp.

During one of Chavez's customary lectures on the "curse" of capitalism and the bonanzas of socialism, the Venezuelan leader made reference to GM's bankruptcy filing, which is expected to give the U.S. government a 60 percent stake in the 100-year-old former symbol of American might.

"Hey, Obama has just nationalized nothing more and nothing less than General Motors. Comrade Obama! Fidel, careful or we are going to end up to his right," Chavez joked on a live television broadcast.

Not that I'm defending all of what he's doing, but it's not socialist; I can say that because I have some idea what socialism means and what he is doing.

Chavez has been going around buying up big company after big company *for socialist reasons*, not because the economic crisis has threatened them, he's doing it for the country to own and run them, unlike Obama who is not planning for the US government to permanently run GM - not to even really run it at all, and to gte the government out of it when it's doing better.

Key word in your own 1uote bolded for you.

So, you suggest just letting GM basically go out of business?

Who cares?

Attach whatever labels you want to attach. The economic situation has changed at global level. The remedies of the past are no longer applicable. Given that Bush (pronounce this to rhyme with "lush") served two terms of office, he is largely responsible for passing Obama a hot potato. In other words, stop blaming Obama for nationalising companies when Bush left him no option: Bush left the American economy in this state.

Chávez is an ass, few people listen to him (except you).

Remember Senator McCarthy? The demon of communism? Try to move on.

Aren`t you Budmanton`s brother???

The liberals will of course try to spin and dance this into nothing, but when you have Hugo Chavez saying you are more of a socialist than he is, that is pretty eye-opening.

I'm sure we have some folks here who would like to set Chavez straight and educate him on the true meaning of socialism. Chavez is such a retard....doesn't even know what socialism is. <---sarcasm

The desperation from the Party of Outrage and Propaganda is off the charts.

Oh I get it. I do. Hugo Chavez is a raving mad socialist dirt bag, that is until he says something you agree with. Yup. That makes perfect sense.

I'm guessing people like you listen to Rush while watching Hannity with subtitles.

Semantics.

The centralization of taxes/power and the ownership of the people by their government is nothing less than the end of American capitalism and the beginning of something new. What you want to call the new behemoth is entirely up to you.

Thanks for the link. That's interesting...he used essentially the same exact words both times.

It validates himself to point to America and see that we are emulating his ideology behind absolute government dictation.

pwned.

There is nothing "pwned" about this. I was simply asking for a link for the quote.

Go back to WOW.

But you didn't simply ask for a link. You said this...

That said, I'd say you were pwned.

If that is true, why is Congress holding hearings on the closing of the dealerships? Why won't the administration let GM develop cars where is makes economic sense? Why is Congress pushing certain types of vehicles?[/quote]

The government has all kinds of plans on running GM. Here is a better question, what is the administrations exit plan from GM? Answer: they don't have one.

So, we should ignore everything based on the verb usage of a press writer. By that logic, if the writer used the word "stated" instead, you wouldn't have an argument, correct. But since he used "joked" we need to stop reaching. oooookkkkkkaaaaaayyyy, then.

Oh noes, Robor says I was "pwned"!

Just because he said the same thing in the past about the previous president, doesn't mean that it doesn't hold any truth about the current president.

TARP and the auto bailout LOANS (both of which I disapproved of) started during the previous administration (with a Democratic Congress). It wasn't until the current administration that government ownership of private companies occurred.

Then again, linking facts and reality isn't exactly your strong suit...

Hehe, a righty using the word facts and reality, that must be hard.
