5 bucks already give them 10x profit. I don't understand how they come up with 99dollars retail price. They shouldfire every single person work in the marketing department.

I need one of these.

Anyone (thread crappers chance to step up), know of a better choice feature/price wise?

I think it looks pretty cool and it can be pretty useful. I think I'll get one.

I got one of those stuck on the windshield for like $5 compass. I'm sure the thermostat I can get it for cheaper then $25.

Yes the 2000's version of my Grandfathers floating ball compass in his 72 Ford Torino... I would have to pass on this one. I don't ever wonder what the temp is, and all the road signs I ever see tell me what direction I am traveling in already.

I disagree. A compass can be very useful when you're lost. At least you know which way you're going on a particular road. Not too long ago I rented a Mercury Sable that just happen to have that compass in the mirror thingy, and it helped me in numerous situation. But maybe I'm just prone to getting lost...

Now I want one for my max as well (a compass, need not be in the mirror), but I haven't found one that's affordable enough. $29.99 seem to be the prevailing price, so this is not a particularly special price. $99? Maybe in Singaporean dollar or something... :D

BTW from my experience non-electronic (i.e. simple magnetic) compass are thoroughly useless. It'll just point at the large metal piece in front of the car, i.e. the engine. It'll just say North is straight ahead even if you run in circles.
