vegas...

AUMM

Diamond Member
so im going to vegas for new years, i've only gone once before but i didnt do so well in the casino. I won the most in blackjack, lost the most in craps and broke even more or less on roulette. Anyone got any tips for me on playing craps and roulette??

also, just curious, what do you guys usually drink at the casino's, last time all i drank was rum and coke...

that really is a great tip if you drink.

study the roullette wheel. a good dealer can get the ball into an area pretty consistently...know the numbers around the winning number and watch for a pattern.

blackjack---just dont split tens..its like havin a 12 inch you know what and wanting a 14 incher

craps...always place odds...pass line bets with odds have the best percentage against the house

Craps:
Play the black; Remove the bet if point is 6/8 and you play black.

Get out 2-3 bets. Learn patience. do not extend

another strategy for craps:

start off with a bet no more than 1/20 of your bankroll.
do not bet $10 if you do not feel comfortable with the bet.
when use Odds up to the point that you feel comfortable.
Do not get caught up in chasing the lost bet or following what others are betting.
Stay away from the center and field. - sucker areas.

Increase your bet every time you win. Revert to your original bet when you loose.

Stick a portion of your winnings in your pants and NEVER touch them. That way, you will not go away a complete loser.

man. these strategies sound crazy. but then again, ive never played craps before so i have no idea what you are all talking about.

Play black? meaning against?

most valuable lesson for me is don't always go for the lowest table min on blackjack

i used to lose 3-400$ regular in AC playin the 5$ table, among other sucker bet games like sic bo (smaller vegas establishment have 2$ table in the am)
the thing is u'll most likely give back any winning + yr money before u win anything sizeable that
compel u to walk away with (low min good to learn the game)

2. don't gamble when you're tire (i was up ~1k (playin 10-15$hands ) in sept then gave back 400$ in 1.5 hr
the last nite tryin to recoup my "won money" losses)

3. won money is real after you go back home

i'm tryin to go back next week for 3 days after my 9in a row workweek,
i'm tryin also to talk myself out of this also citing rule #2

i don't drink when i gamble, i can lose on my own w/o further handicap
my gf go crazy at the buffet table when she doesn't do when on the blackjak table

yeah, last time i went, the biggest problem i had was knowing when to quit. then while playing blackjack i started putting away my winnings into my pocket and i came up 400 bux in about 40 minutes

Yes:

Lived in Vegas for the past few years.

Average $100-300/ week take home profit. I do not try to get greedy. will stop when I hit a 2-3 time loosing streak.

Also have a superstition regarding female players. I have gotten burned many more times by them when they roll the dice. I just do not bet when they are rolling.

Get a hold of a beginner craps book and start reading. Stay with the basics until you understand more.

You can ask the dealers, they will help you. Just be sure to tip them if you strike a good run of luck as a thank-you

I like drinking Gin & Tonics or Scotch and Sodas at the casinos. You might as well get something nice to drink while you're gambling. Make sure that you ask for top-shelf alcohol when you order your drink. If you don't, then they'll probably give you the cheap stuff.

do they let you order pretty much anything?

I just play blackjack around the casinos here. I always try and play 1st or 3rd base, and if someone is doing something stupid (hitting a 13 when dealer has a bust card showing) I get up and leave. Don't chase your lost bets, just be patient.

I was in Vegas over Xmas eve. Won $2k in craps.

My strategy is 3-point Betty. It's passline/odds and 2 come bets. Bankroll = 10x what you risk on the table.

So if u put $5 passline + $25 odds, plus two Come bets, then you are risking $30 x 3 = $90. Thus bring $900 to the table to have decent chance of out lasting a bad streak. Leave after a hot streak, you reached your profit expectations for the session or 2/3 of your bankroll is gone.

AVOID roulette (95% return)!!!

Stick with:
video poker- 9/6 jacks or better (99.5% return), full pay dueces wild (100.7% return)
blackjack (~99.5%)
craps (~99.5%) <=== Play this if you don't know optimum strategy for VP or BJ

And optimum strategy can be found for FREE at wizardofodds.com 🙂

GOOD LUCK!

unless u're psychic, u can't prove they just took the dealer's bust card
just as u can't prove they're actually card counting and know that they have to hit
since the deck is low card rich and they're just protectin their own hand

and of course we're all entitled to our own quirks
hell i double down against a dealer 6 when i get a 12total, some people call it stupidity, i call it gambling

Myth: That idiot at third base is killing me.
Fact: A common myth at the blackjack table is that a bad player, especially one in the last seat, will disrupt the natural order of the cards and cause everyone to lose. It is true that such a player sometimes will make a play that will result in the dealer beating everybody rather than breaking. However in the short run such a player is just as likely to help you as to hurt you and in the long run they won't make any difference. The cards are in random order and they are not prearranged to make the dealer break assuming correct play. If anyone rebukes you for hitting a stiff hand at third base tell them you'll keep doing so when the odds favor it and if they don't like it they can find another table.

If we assume that the player is not playing basic strategy then if the person "took" the dealer's card then you would see it as the dealer makes his hand or not. If the player stands and the dealer then makes his hand then you can see the next card usually from the first player of a new deal. So you can see whether they took the dealer's bust hand or not.

Well, third base is important IMO. Of course the cards should be random but everyone has had a streak or runs of cards. Do you like it when you are on a streak and people move in and out with their bets. It disrupts the flow. If it helps or hurts when someone plays basic strategy then I think people are ok with it. but when someone does random things than it can be frustrating.

I've been at tables where people hit on 13 when the deal is showing a 6 or split 10s with dealing showing an 8. The ultimate was some idiot DOUBLE DOWN on BLACKJACK when dealer showed a 6. He lost!

The Hop bet is where you are betting on a specific number combination being thrown on the next role of the dice.

A player (sucker) may say 4/5 hopping. If the dice show a 4 and a 5 then they would get paid 15 times the amount of the bet.
if the dice show a 6 and a 3, that would be a loss for the above hop bet.

This is a one time bet per roll.

wow...he really does play dumb. He is pretty rich so he plays big. He sure doesnt play smart though. He will bet the line coming out then play the hard ways....every time he loses a hard way he doubles it up. then he makes hop bets. The casinos love him. He sure does get a lot of "free" stuff. The trip takes place for the final four every year. It used to be the superbowl but we wanted better weather. I dont think I will be there this year due to my wife giving birth a week before it this year.

Betting the line is fine. The Prop bets (any bet that is a single shot) and the field are there to increase the percentage for the house.

Best percentage bets for you are the Line & Come (Black/ or non-black) with the highest odds that you can stomach.
The odds are payed true.

Best advice for vegas...don't bet.

There is no strategy with which you will win in the long run. The casino will ALWAYS win in the long run, that's why they make a business out of doing so.
