Vegas weddings vs. proper weddings?

So let's say you're thinking of getting hitched. Would you prefer a big ole wedding or Elvis will do?

Edited to add last option.

to each is to own!
As long as it is special to the bride and groom, that is all that matters.

Where is the option for whatever my freaking SO says?

But I did ask what you would prefer, not your SO... 😕 I granted you that freedom. THIS... IS... ATOT!!!

I love would such a simple wedding. I probably wouldn't do Vegas though; rather, something more exotic and interesting. I've thought about doing everything from Point Lobos in CA (it was one of our first vacations together) to an island somewhere. I'd take just my very close family and that's about it. I honestly wouldn't mind if it was just the two of us.

I'm going to end up having two weddings in two different countries, and each is going to be expensive and stressful. To me it seems silly, but when the woman you love has spent so much of her life being told what is a "proper" wedding and dreaming about it, you really don't have much of a choice.

There ya go. A couple should do what fits their personalities and taste. My wedding was a very laid back barbecue in the park. I wore shorts, my wife wore a sun dress. The day was perfect. Low stress, lots and lots of family and friends. Best day of my life.

Me and my current wife did the Vegas thing, Elvis and all. It was way better than my first wedding; traditional weddings suck.

Caribbean island resort. I went scuba diving in the ocean 4 hours after my wedding.

I'll take that over hitting a dirty smelly casino in Vegas any day 🙂

actually, if by vegas wedding you mean the drive thru style chapel o love type places, then no. i wouldnt do that.

however my family has had several weddings in vegas, but all at nice hotels, and i think a lot of people who attend just have a blast hitting the strip right after.
