Ok, my fiancee and I are fed up with the whole planning a semi-large wedding bs and trying to make everyone happy. Large weddings are overrated and overpriced and we don't need to show off for anyone. The other night we were joking around and said screw it lets elope! But that wouldn't really fly... so I said lets just go to Vegas with our immediate family and have a blast. My fiancee soaked it up immediately and said YES, lets do it! She was dead serious and set on the idea so we scratched all of our previous plans and are going w/ a Vegas Wedding and Honeymoon. We'll get to spend more on ourselves and actually save a good bit. We're wanting to put a down payment on a house soon... so this is perfect... oh, and a perfect excuse to exclude the family members we don't want to come.

So if any of you guys have experience with this, please elaborate. What are the nicest hotels for the best price? What sites do you recommend for flight/hotel reservations? Looks like Travelocity comes out to be the cheapest for most. Any suggestions are highly appreciated! Thanks guys/gals.

anyone out there?

I'm looking to stay 7 nights... best deal so far is for the Luxor at $795 per person for flight/hotel. Just not sure how nice this is for a honeymoon stay.

We stayed at the Bellagio on our honeymoon. It's pretty expensive but probably one of the nicest hotels in the city. They have a wedding chapel in the hotel.

I've been eyeing the Bellagio. We just want a simple wedding for about 12 people to attend... nothing super fancy, actually looking for something around $500-$1000 for the package. Any recommendations?

Ok, you might be hesitant to do this but go to theknot.com and search for destination weddings or go to the "talk" section and to the Nevada message boards.
there are a lot of great ideas, tons of local (to Las Vegas) resources, etc.

I'm thinking about it as well due to the same reasons. We're already very busy people, and trying to negotiate a wedding for so many people (from separate countries no less) is just too stressful. It's supposed to be a fun day for us afterall. I'm not much of a traditionalist though.

I always said I'd never do the Vegas thing, but it's looking more appealing as time goes on. We had talked about it, and decided that if we did it we'd either stay at the Bellagio or get a Villa outside of the city. They have some really nice places that you can rent.

Good luck! I found that Vegas.com had some nice options.

Descartes, check out travelocity.com for the lowest airfare/hotel rates. I've compared with just about everyone and they're by far the cheapest.

Actually, my brother-in-law is doing the exact same thing. They have it planned for this June.

My suggestion for you guys would be the Venetian. It's (IMO) the nicest hotel on the strip as far as rooms and amenities go. It will be a little more pricey, but it's worth it even if your family stays somewhere less expensive.

we're planning our wedding for vegas too.. we have a bunch more people than 12 though.. somewhere in the range of 100-120... i think my fiance said www.cheapovegas.com for vegas deals... so far we've looked at paris, mandalay bay and excalibur... we're going with excalibur, cause the chapel looks good, and the reception deals are good.. although it's not one of the "top of the line" hotels in the area... and it's a cheaper hotel so if people want to stay in the same hotel they're not required to pay $500/night for one of the more expensive hotels... since your party is going to be small, you probably won't even need a reception package.. just take them all out for a nice dinner

anyway, just go to the hotels' websites and they should all have some wedding information... most of them require that you call or email the planners though, so be prepared to do some calling

Thanks for the info. Our wedding is still 8 months away so making calls won't be a problem. I've heard bad things about Excalibur though, especially for a honeymoon. It's more run down than one may think and most of the bedrooms smell like smoke. It still looks unique though. I'm thinking the Bellagio is in my budget, but damn the Venetian looks nice!

Update on our Vegas plans:

We broke the news to our families... my Mother was actually excited and said she'll be going w/ my Step Father and all her sisters. I also have 2-3 of my friends going. My fiancee's family on the other hand is not to thrilled with the idea. They basically aren't looking forward to paying for the trip and think Vegas is a little trashy to get married in. Whatever, we've already paid for the trip and our minds are set. All that matters is that we're happy!
