Been to Vegas no short of 7 or 8 times so I am fairly familiar with the city but this will mark the first time i've ever been wtih a significant other (always with a group or bachelor parties)

will be there May 26-29 (memorial day weekend) and am staying at Mandalay Bay

plans so far:

Thurs
-- Lunch buffet @ Aria 12:30pm
-- Ka @ MGM 9:30pm

Friday
-- Grand Canyon excursion 6am - 6pm

Saturday
-- Dinner @ SW Steakhouse Wynn 9:30pm
-- Dessert @ Eiffel Tower Paris 11pm

Sunday
-- Hang out by the pool

A couple of other ideas we were kicking around that we can do at any time was to visit the following exhibits:
-- Bodies @ Luxor
-- Shark Reef @ Mandalay
-- Adventuredone @ Circus

I'm worried that we do not have any club or pool passes, but will have to deal with that while we're there I guess

Any other suggestions?

Wife and I went together a few years ago. It was fun, but we both agreed Vegas isn't really a "couples" vacation spot. More of a "buddies" vacation spot.

Del Frisco's. One of the best ribeye steaks. Check out their 007 wine table too.

Spearmint Rhino for dessert

My wife and I got married in Vegas, returned for our one year anniversary, and are heading back there this July for our 10 year anniversary. It's our favorite "no-kids" spot.

Of course, we both like to gamble and play poker, so YMMV.

Go see a Cirque Du Soleil show. Mystere and O are my favorites, followed by KA. Zumanity I wasn't a fan of so much...it was just meh. I could watch the shows a dozen times without getting bored. They are the best attraction on the strip, IMO.

Also, don't forget to go to Fremont Street.

I did Vegas with your girlfriend once. Trust me, you're gonna have a good time. Ask her about the "Vegas strip buffet".

I kid. Have fun.

I loved KA. Thought it was an awesome show. Went with a big group and we all enjoyed it.

SW Steakhouse is my favorite restaurant in Vegas. Greak steak and beautiful view. Get reservations to sit at the patio instead of indoors.

I stayed at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay last time so checked out the shark reef, but it was nothing to brag about (specially if you've been to other aquariums).

Since you're staying there, check out the Mix Lounge on the rooftop of Mandalay Bay (we got in for free since we stayed at the hotel). It's not as crazy with young kids as some of the other clubs. Very nice view.

Also, best breakfast buffet is Belagio buffet. Just be ready to stand on line for at least an hour.

I went to Vegas for my honeymoon, and contrary to another poster we found it to be a great couples spot, and plan on going back again.

We did pretty much everything on your list, and also went to see the burlesque show at MGM (Carmen Electra was in it that week), went down to do the gondola ride at the Venetian, and had a morning where I went to play poker tournaments while she went and got spa treatments.

FYI: Ka is fantastic!

went many a year ago with a girl id just started seeing. the best, non-hotel-room, time we had was when we spent 3-4 hours in a lounge in the bellagio listening to a piano being played while trying new drinks and sampling various desserts.

Ka is awesome. So see that for sure. Another poster said he didn't like Zumanity, but it has chicks wearing nipple caps with crazy abs and overall sex theme that I thought made it a great choice for couples. Sort of like softcore porn meets circ. I haven't seen any other shows but I should have made time for another while we were there.

We went on a helicopter tour of the canyon and flew over the hoover dam, which took way less time and actually wasn't that expensive. We didn't get to see quite as much of the canyon I suppose, but we did land in it and have lunch. Was pretty thrilling since I'm terrified of heights...but it was cool sitting up in the front with the pilot. I sort of would have liked to have seen the dam up close though.

The dinner and knight show at excaliber was a lot of fun. It was only $50 when we went and I got into it and had a great time. The food wasn't fantastic but I really enjoyed watching the knights mock joust and fight and how each section of the crowd had a knight to cheer for with the most enthusiastic crowd changing the outcome of the battle. We had the evil dragon knight and I like to think my overdone cheering was responsible for his victory.

The David Copperfield show was meh, skip it. It feels like he's phoning it in and most it was pretty cheesy.

We stayed at the MGM last time and I wouldn't recommend it. The "modern" room seemed to be designed completely form over function and I hated it. Our room elevator was accessed from some strangely dark hallway and the elevators were pieces of shit. Other rooms might be better, but other problems were it was confusing to get around and the low ceilings in the casino (which you of course have to walk through to get anywhere) made the cig smoke smell really bad. It was barely noticeable when we stayed in Excaliber which has high ceilings (and better ventilation?) They have a cool lion exhibit but its not like you have to stay there to see that.

Excaliber might be older and more run down, but we got bumped to a better room with an awesome room so it seemed way more awesome. Ultimately the room isn't that big of a deal.

It seems more expensive and there were more homeless people last time we went. Either the economy was better or they had a more aggressive goon squad the first time we went.

Me and the wife are going for our first time in september, been doing some research on it myself. We plan on staying at Aria since it's on the strip and in "new" Vegas. Hopefully it's worth the 5+ hr flight!

Get VIP passes online for Club Rain or Voodoo Lounge, etc. It doesn't cost much and you get right in.

When I was younger I brought my then g/f to Vegas, and she spent a lot of time complaining about how the women there dress like whores and cocktail waitresses have their boobs all pushed out and whatnot. In so many words, I told her to shut the fuck up, we're in Vegas, and that she should get over it.

Oddly enough, I went to Vegas a few weeks ago with the same girl, but only this time as friends, and we had a great time.

okay, enough already with the "you don't bring your girl to vegas" posts... it's boring, childish, trite, and most importantly completely ignorant

thanks for the folks on a few other suggestions but i've yet to get any additional thoughts on some other things we should have planned for the weekend

dare i bump this thread? i do...
