I was looking for a summer job and I happen to get a letter from Vector Marketing. They say they are looking for sales people. Their website is here. I can't tell if they're legit or not since you have to go to a bunch of training sessions and stuff. It might be one of those schemes where you have to buy a bunch of stuff in order to sell them or something. I have a friend who actually signed up but he hasn't started yet, so I was wondering if any of you know anything about this company.

Right on the front page.

Marketing CUTCO, the world's finest cutlery, manufactured with superb materials and Guaranteed Forever.

That says to me it is either a telemarketer position or MLM thing (similar to Amway or whatever the heck it is called now), and my gut tells me it is the later.

Vector is legit, they sell Cutco knives, my brother did it a couple of summers ago. It's ok for a summer job but you won't make a career out of it. There are only so many people that you can get to sit through a 30 minute sales pitch about knives. As an aside Cutco knives are pretty good quality

After further research, I guess they can be legit as long as you can make the sales, but a lot of people who didn't got screwed by them.

NO NONONONONONO

RUN FAR, FAR AWAY.

You're a door to door salesman. Going into private buildings, offices, stuff like that, trying to sell CRAPPY merchandise to people that don't want it.

I was there for one day. There was a door that said no soliciting, and the guy I was with went in. He said "We're not soliciting, we're just offering great deals." I left.

Don't do it, to start, you actually need to buy a set a knives... and the vast majority of people won't make a profit. The people who really profit are the regional managers who get people like you to sign up for the job, and buy the knives to get started.
