I'd like to setup my rig to record TV shows like a VCR. Cost being moderate. What I'm actually looking for is something to the effect of a good video card with TV Tuner that can capture in good quality format. I would also settle for going video in but I'm a fan having a single unit do it all. CPU and space is no object - the box is solid. I was thinking along the lines of The Asus V8200 Deluxe TITUANIUM TI200 Geforce3 64mb AGP with TV-Out. Am I on the right track with this?

I'm also looking into getting a DVD-RW unit to eventually record straight to DVD-R's to playback on a regular TV but that's another story. So far my number 1 choice (limited as of yet) is the Sony machine with 2.4x.

AMD Athlon XP 1700
Abit KR7
256 mb Crucial DDR
Asus GeForce MX 400 w/64 meg
Sound Blaster Live!
Windows XP Pro (Disk 0)
Windows 2000 Server (Disk 1)
etc etc

How about just getting something like a dirt cheap ATi TV Wonder or a Hauppage WinTV GO, thats all you need really and it wont ever hold your 3d gaming card back cause its a seperate pci. They have tv tuner and video in for recording too.
Or maybe look at the ati all in wonders, theres a new 7500 version of it i believe thats fairly cheap along with the big 8500 version although it requires a money allergy.

Yeah, I agree with Sandos. Get either a TV Wonder or a Hauppauge card... unless you want to replace that MX card of yours. In that case, the Asus card is a good choice or a Radeon 7500 AIW.

I was actually thinking of just an complete upgrade of video card as well. While playing UT I know my GF2 is well maxed out and a GF3 would better match my CPU. I'll take a look at that Radeon as well and compare options/performance. Thanks.
