is there a program that can make VCD's other than NERO becasue nero cant do is says somehting about MPEG2 and they want me to buy the addon i wam wondering if there is a FREE or non free version that can do it? cheers

MPEG2=SVCD

Go here for making either a vcd or a svcd. Is the media file you've downloaded? In what format is the media file? (i.e., avi, mpg)

I have winoncd and it will convert avi to mpeg others I haven't tried

the file is an AVI ill give you exactly what NERO says

"Due to patent licence restrictions, the MPEG2 encoding/converting is not avaliable" 🙁

anyone got any ideas?

Use MPEG1 files instead of MPEG2. VCD is MPEG1.

is there anyway of converting MPEG2 - MPEG1 ? ?

Make a project file with DVD2AVI, then load that into TMPGEnc and encode to VCD.
