I have a bunch of very long play(6hrs) video cassettes I would like to put on a CDrom, considering I encode at vcr like quality, how many disk would it take for each tape? Btw, would 80min cds work on a typical DVD player(assuming it support VCD).

I don't know exactly why you labeled your post a VCD bandwidth question since VCDs are mpeg-1 at a constant bit rate (1150kbps video, 224kbps sound) ... unless that is what you wanted to know.

But anyways, getting back to your post, you can get a little over an hour of footage onto an 80min CD ... so for each 6 hours tape, you would need like 6 80min CDs. Oh, and yeah, 80min CDs should play back no problem in your DVD player ... assuming it can read CD-Rs to begin with ...

I hope this helps in some way ...
