VCache question

NOVICE HERE! My system: MSI KT# Ultra main board, Athlon 1.7GHz, 512Meg 184 Pin DDR (266MHz) RAM. Problem is I run out of memory too fast. I flight sim a lot, but some times I get a "not enough memory" notice with only one program running (not flight sim). Some times it shows when I first boot up. I go to System.ini, and under [vcache] there is nothing. My instructions tell me that this is where I can add maximum and minumum vcache. Should I see something here? Is my system is set up right? Am I looking in the right place? Does this sound like a VCache problem? Anyone had any experience with MemoKit? I know that this is a lot of questions by I appreciate any help.
