VC problem or incompatibility only?

I need your inputs/insights guys..

whenever i play world in conflict for more than 30 minutes, green lines starts to appear and the sound seems to shatter, then the game crashes (windows reporting program is not responding) and even i play a different game after the crash, this happens... (green lines/pixels and shattered sounds appear)

this also sometimes happens even though i just run a benchmarking tool like RE5...

need your inputs guys... this problem started happening after installing world in conflict...

is it my video card or just merely software incompatibility... by the way im using windows 7 64bit ultimate... thanks in advance

sounds almost like a overheating issue, what are the temps?

i get just 73c when gaming highest is 75c... and i think it is still a good temperature under load... or is it not?

Perhaps bad VRAM? If it is then replacing is the only option. That's as far as my knowledge goes...

Well if you think tis software problem you can try and roll back windows to before you installed WIC. If you dont have a resore point for that you could just do a fresh install, then at least you know for sure if its software or hardware.

hmmm... maybe but i dont think so because if i don't play WIC and i would like play for example dawn of war chaos rising, i played for about 50 mins and i don't experience the shitty problem... and i get 75c on my temps when playing DOWII

Have you tried to use CCC to downclock the cards core and mem speeds and played the game in question yet? Try this if you haven't yet. Kinda sounds like it's just this one game that triggers your problem untill a reboot. Maybe like you said just a software conflict with this one game.

Just for ref not all games or benchmark utilities will push the cards features to the same extent. It' s possible that the game in question is just pushing an unstable part of your core or memory due to the overclock. Have you used something like gpu-z to check the temps during the game in question vs the games you state work correctly?

You don't give much info as far as what you have already tried to solve the problem. Sometimes it's just something simple like game X just can't hang with my otherwise stable overclock 🙂

yeah i've checked the temps and as far as i know the VRM temps are still good... with 83 84 83c respectively... but i played the game on stock clocks only 850/975...

then i played DOWII on OC settings which is on my sig, and i played last night for about an hour without experiencing any trouble...

WIC is a multithreaded game i think... maybe my processor lacks voltage because my OC setting is undervolted...

If nothing is getting over 90c you are good temp wise, my highly OC'ed 4890 will run at 80-90c all day long with no isses.

Im really starting to think its a software issue. Try uninstalling WIC and any other games that are crashing and the ATI drivers then reinstalling and see what happens, use driver cleaner or sweeper or whatever its called to completly clean out the ATI drivers.

Or if you dont have much installed might be worth it to reformat, at least that way if it still crashes you know for sure its not in the software and can start to trouble shoot the hardware more.

i run my X4 @ 3.2ghz OC @ 1.264v, I increased it to 1.280v and wolah i was able to play well with WIC... i think the cpu load is too much for the lack of voltage that i had... hmmm... i got to keep on testing...

can you suggest any software to be able to increase GPU voltage? perhaps a link? thanks..

I looked into Voltage tweaks for the 4890 a year ago when i got mine, the only way to do it then was by flashing the BIOS on the video card, and i didnt want to take that risk so did not pursue it any further, i dont know if there is a software mod to do this now.

And dont be afraid to feed that CPU some more voltage, my 940BE has been running 1.4v for over a year now, no issues. It seems the older PH II's need some juice to OC much at all.

yah, but the problem is that my board is only 125w cpu support so i cannot overclock further... it goes wacko when i push it to 240mhz, i've read reviews of 3.7ghz on 1.55v crazy high for my processor...

voltage tweaking on MSI AB is just limited and i can't push my 4890 any further than 950 because of this...
