posts count being gone kinda...i dunno, i give it a  but i expect its partially because it cant be helped *Shrug*
do rep-based titles mean only some will get a rep? i kinda like knowing who has been here and active a while. meh.
religion being moved out it awesome.
im glad moderators as regulars are subject to the same rules as everyone else (way past time for that)
as long as moderators as pseudo-mods are held accountable if they suck at moderating, as well.

To spend so much time on a forum and have nothing to show for it....

But obviously this is an April's Fool joke. Because how else could Zim or anybody else in a TV show thread (like me!!) actually post about what's going on when having to wait five minutes between posts?

6 words to post? LOL yeah that'll work out. Further dispersing OT into several more sub-forums will just create several, low traffic forums, and create mayhem for the mods moving threads everywhere.

Giving the power to the users to lock threads is also pretty bad, and will lead to people to close threads based on their personal opinions or the fact that they just don't like the user (Yeah, GL Savoyboy, or should I say see ya later?), I can see every P&R thread locked just based on the mass number of people disagreeing with one another.

But hey, apparently the way things were are hella bad or else there wouldn't be the need for so much unnecessary change.

People who would be -rep'd until they were banned, without violating TOS:

- Republicans

- Anyone who says negative things about ATi

- See #1 and #2

Why 5minutes per post in a thread? The best threads on any forum are when people are caught up in a heated debate over something and the posts are flying left and right from all sides. Why would you want to limit how many posts a person can do as long as they're legitimate and meaningful?

A lot of these anti-nef rule seem really ridiculous. I havent really noticed a ton of people posting 1 word replies to every thread on the forums just to boost their post count. This seems like an imaginary issue that people keep talking about but really isnt true. Whats wrong w/ having a post count?

I'm not really sure about all these subforums either. Even during its heaviest traffic times ATOT isnt moving so fast that threads at teh top get bumped down 4 pages in a second. This isnt' offtopic.com, things move slow enough that separating out so many subforums would only dilute the content of ATOT even more. For the love of god Rants and Raves are of the funniest things on ATOT, especially if theyre funny.

Am I making cogent arguments here?

Last year when this was being discussed, it was to give members more time to think about their posts so that the forums might have more substance.
And to cut down on neffing.

But for a lot of topics people dont need to think for 5 minutes before comign up w/ something meaningful. When you limit the ability for someone to talk, it allows other people to pile on and derail the conversation before the original poster has time to respond. I dunno, I guess it's just my opinion that I dont need 5 minutes to mull things over just to make a small point.

yeah, itll get abused big time. kinda almost a good idea in theory, but in implementation i expect itll be a pain in the ass for everyone.

and more sub forums is meh. some of them are ok...but I think OT has really gotten thinned-out and less interesting and this is only going to make it worse. another year and general discussion/OT will be ditched in favor of only topical forums. pffft

Assuming this is not some sort of joke my only real issue is with #7. Five minutes is an eternity on a fast paced forum. Even the 30 second rule is going to be obnoxious but 5 minutes is a guaranteed way to make people quit posting.
