Unfortunately, I think they were given vBulletin on punch cards, so the installation procedure may take a long time.

hi guys ... quick update.

some people know that a beta server was live this week and opened up wednesday night. the server wasn't quite ready for any load and some cleanup work and other things hadn't quite finished yet. the address somehow leaked into the OT and people headed over there. shortly thereafter (and i have no idea whether this is a related event or not) the mysql database server that powers our vb board crashed.

we spent yesterday evening looking into the matter, and at this point it looks like we are going to try another test import of the forum database before opening up the beta server. this could take a day or two to complete, so while the plan was this week for beta it looks like it'll have to be next week instead.

for those of you who know the vb server address, please don't hand it out and also please don't head over there until we give the all clear. thanks for your help and patience.
🙁

Derek: Are you guys setting up some replication/slaves? I'm a full time MySQL DBA if you need any help.

please be patient with us as this may be painful. we're still working out kinks. you will need to reset your password and have it emailed to you to log in to the beta forums.

the skin is default -- we have not implemented our UI yet, nor have we installed our plug-ins for testing ... this is basically getting the FT data into vB and seeing what our servers can take.

the beta server will be sandbox and nothing will be saved after this beta round is over.

we may take the server down and bring it back up at different times for maintenance and response times may be slow if many people hit the server all at once. with high load we'll also ask that you be patient with password emails -- they may take 5 to 10 or more minutes ... please only request your password be emailed to you ONCE to avoid unnecessary load that will only slow things down more.

Hahahahahahaha

After all these months you have only managed to migrate the DB? Not even a UI or plugins? Who are the monkeys that do the coding and IT work over there?

Edit - my username and password aren't working over there and password retrieval doesn't work. Guess you didn't even manage to migrate the DB properly

Hey Derek, thanks for all the work with the vB switch. I'm sure it's been a big pain, and you hardly get any thanks. Thank you.

Just to report one issue, which you're probably already aware of: users with account names identical to past ones that were deleted, like me, were imported into vB with usernames like Imported_Crono, and the old accounts were resurrected. Crono on AT vB is not me, but a ghost account of someone else (I assume). Will you change our vB names to match the current AT names? Thanks 🙂

Was/is your email address enabled on AT profile?

The "monkeys", as far as I know, are volunteers from this forum who wanted to help. That's why it's taken so long, and that's why there will be quite a few bugs to work out. Since you're the king and all, maybe you'd like to take a stab at converting the fusetalk db to vb?

Also, please keep in mind that you paid no membership dues here, you are more than welcome to go elsewhere.

It's obvious that the code monkeys simply ignore the douchebag requests.
