If there was no difference between the parties this country wouldn't be so polarized over politics.
Politics has become a show. Each party sings a tune, dances a little bit, and tries to spin themselves. The Republicans will claim small government, fiscal responsibility, low taxes, and freedom. When in power, as we have seen recently, they expand the government, piss away money, and take civil rights. The Democrats will claim to look out for the little guy, help with domestic problems, and expand civil rights. As we can see now, they are just as much bought and paid for by corporations and interests as the R's, and have done nothing to expand civil rights (Patriot Act, body scanners, et cetera). Really, there isn't a difference. Both parties, no matter there claims, continue to spend money that we don't have, make the government larger, and take away freedoms and rights from both States and people. It's just a question of what color lipstick you want on the pig.
When they create a fiscally conservative / socially liberal party you can sign me up! Until then I'll stick with the (D)'s because I think I like their version of freedumb more than the (R)'s version of freedumb.
If you're voting for either of the big two parties, you're part of the problem. The closest thing we have now for fiscally conservative and socially liberal is the libertarian party. Even if you would like to argue that their ideas are untenable with globalization, they are a step in the right direction, and can't be any worse than what we have now.
