I believe there's an easy way to wire a three way switch into your fans, allowing you to run at full-speed/off/half-speed, based on the three switch positions. It may be a cheap solution rather than buying variable speed designed fans. I tried to re-locate the link I had seen this explained and demoed on but I couldn't. Maybe someone with more electrical exp. than I knows about the wiring, resistors and other setup and can help you build such a thing. If I find the link I'll update this post. Best of luck...

I read somewhere that the simplest way to manually control the speed is to have a switch that decides between default 12V (12V and ground), 7V (12V and 5V) and 5V (5V and ground)

They're available from PhamComputer for $10. Also, if you have a Microcenter store near you, check there. I've seen them there for $10.99, and although the box is labeled "CompuMan" it seems to be the exact same fan as the Enermax available from Pham.

I just received the Enermax fans I bought from CrazyPc (before they run out of them), and I have to say they are very quiet. As far as the amount of air they push, it is less, but my CPUs are not any hotter than before.
