Does anybody have the Vantec Nexus Multi-function Panel NXP-101?
I was wondering if anybody knew how to stop/quiet down the alarm speaker.
It goes off randomly sometimes and it is LOUD! =(

Thanks

This is exactly why I'm looking for other options so I can replace it. Only one fan in my case has the RPM monitor cable, and that one fan is a loud Vantec Tornado. The problem is that I can't control the fan speed anymore. I think this product looks good but performs poorly.

Well, last night I was sleeping and the alarm happened to go off again.
It wasn't the first time that night either, so I decided to fix the problem.

I ran downstairs and grabbed the first pair of pliers I could find.
I immediately removed the panel, broke off the plasting cylinder
around the speaker, and tore out the speaker itself.

Then I went back to sleep.

No more alarm for me =)

I just bought one of these at Comp-U-Suck (they sell it as the PCToys SystemMAXX panel -- it's just a Vantec Nexus with a different faceplate). Brought it home, installed it... BEEP...BEEP...BEEP!!! The fvcking thing wouldn't quit beeping!!

Took it back and exchanged it for another one - hooked the new one up...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP!!! So I cut off (actually, pried off with a screwdriver) the speaker :)

But, this thing is still a POS. As far as I can tell the fan speed control doesn't do squat. My CPU fan is quieter, but it seems to be running at the same speed no matter where I set the control. And the RPM display doesn't work at all...

As soon as I can find something better this thing's going in the trash...
