We all know it takes well over a year for any new MMORPG to mature and build up the player base.Be interesting to see what new MMORPGs are still doing well down the road.

The other new MMORPGs I'm looking forward too are Stargate,Star Trek and maybe Warhammer.

I don't think it is healthy to have a top 100 MMORPG list

Ok Skace you got me,only top 10 then ;).

Already went over their supposed non-involvement and why I don't believe a word of it.

Expect Warhammer to be bad now that EA owns Mythic. SOE does not own Sigil.

arent the EA publisher battlefield games, though buggy, actually quite enjoyable? never played, just heard this...

Warhammer has a superb amount of lore, it would be quite difficult, i think, given enthusiastic developers, to mess it up

Edit: I'm an soe lover- I detest WoW and played to level 23 before I quit but have had an active Eq2 account since day 1.

I was looking forward to Vanguard but no longer. I have spoken to some beta testers and there is a lot of disappointment with how it looks. I pray this is from beta and will change, but from what I was told, the game is basically a mix of the best parts of both WoW and Eq2 (which is smart I guess) but with no content to match.

Still though, that should change by release as long as they don't rush it. The game is far from ready.

What about the game is it that they took the best parts of WoW and EQ2? It's nothing like the 2. It's actually a difficult game. You actually need to worry about where you're doing, otherwise you could lose your corpse and all your equipment you had on permanently (although in beta you can summon them atm).

Travelling... there's no griffons or other NPC that you can click on and travel to another part of the world. Travel is very important aspect of this game, either by horses or boats, and when you travel to a new area, you're probably going to stay in that area for awhile. You won't be travelling to different areas willy-nilly.

You can solo in this game, but it's very very difficult and time-consuming. Very group oriented.

No instances.

Very very few nodrop or bind on equip item (they wanted NONE of it, but i think there will ultimately be some).

What is it that you're seeing that they're mixing the best parts of WoW and EQ2?

As for content... it's beta. It's a HUGE HUGE HUGE world. They're not releasing it anytime soon. They have at least 3-4 months to add more content, and took down an entire continent for an entire month just to revamp it content wise.

so i take it the release date on ebgames of 1/29/07 is very optimistic
it does sound like this game will require a huge commitment and not for casual gamers...how hard is it to find and join parties to do quests?

sounds like you have been beta testing it...how do you like it so far?

Ug no thanks. Being able to lose your stuff does not make it difficult. Why would you equate the two?

Then how do I experience all that content? The person I play these games with has a very different schedule then I do so I tend to play at different times and more often.

In WoW or EQ, this wasn't an issue as travel was relativly easy (especially later on in EQ). We could do quests in one area together while when not together we could do our own thing elsewhere.

Having easy travel only brings benefits. And if they have a class that "ports" in the game, having difficult travel will be BS. That always pissed me off about early EQ.

Is a group 5-6 people? Or is a group more then 1 person?

Sounds to me like they're getting rid of some of the elements that make WoW feel like MMOG-lite. Having been a long-time player of another MMO (Asheron's Call) that had corpse retrievals and limited travel, I'll say that I like the direction they're heading in. WoW was way too easy most of the time. Death was a slight annoyance, never a tangible threat.

i tried to join the beta from fileplanet but i can't even get the login screen for my existing station account to open and i can't create a new one because it says my passwords don't match (the password you create and type twice) but i know for sure i typed them properly. tried like 5 times, sometimes with different passwords.
