As a Pacer fan, I'm not sure if I'm happy or not. Honestly, I think Van Gundy never got the respect he deserved for getting as much as he did out of his teams.

Good for him. I'm a Knicks fan and loved him, but he deserves better. He is a great coach and a good guy, but this years team is absolutely pathetic. They're putting no effort forth and just seem not to care whatsoever. He deserves a top flight college head coaching job, where he can use his vast knowledge to help people who actually want to learn and still care about the game, instead of a bunch of overpaid crybabies.

Damn i can't believe it. I didn't see it coming. IMO, I think he was one of the better coachs in recent yrs for the Knicks. I liked him better than Riley.

I hope he gets a good coaching position somewhere

i'm sure van gundy was a good coach, but his bball (in terms of running offense/defense) philosophy clashes with mine.

and houston is the most overpaid under achiever in the NBA.
i cringed when they made that deal.

edit: that's Allan Houston, not to be mistaken for Houston Rockets

don't get me wrong, I'm still a Knicks fan, but I question a lot of their moves...

The whole NY Knicks is overrated. I cringe everytime I watch the Knicks play. A bit spurt here and there but loses in the end. A couple more years to get used to without Ewing and they'll be better. Ewing sucks.

I liked Van Gundy but hated the Knicks. To get as much as he did with the slackers and convicts on that team was amazing. While they were not exciting to watch Van Gundys defensive philosphy was amazing. He deserves better....wounlt it be funny if he turned up in Miami :Q

I think van gundy realized his team was not going to do well this season, and didn't want to take the ultimate blame (cuz that's where most of the blame goes at the end of the season).
he was eventually going to get fired, so he figured better resign than to get fired.

and he's sick of losing.
