Vampire: Bloodlines

I held off this game because of the bugs...I figured why pay full price for a buggy product when I could get a fixed patch down the road, as well as pay half the price of the game at launch.

So, my question is, is the game ready? the patches that came out for the game fix it yet?

Thanks 🙂

AFAIK, it is partially patched and there won't be any more official patches. . . . OtOH, i believe there are some fan-made patches that work pretty well.

I am waiting for this buggy game to go bargain bin [$20 or less at retail] . . . KotOR 2 too.

Activision shut down Troika because their games didn't sell well. The irony is that they didn't sell well because Activision forced them to released every single one of the them several months early and then didn't allow them to make more than 1 patch for each game. 🙁

However, there is an unofficial patch that is available for Bloodlines, lastest version is 1.7. Playing Bloodlines is well worth it, its really a great game. Had Activision allowed Troika to actually finish the game, Bloodlines would be regarded as a model for other first person RPGs to follow.

1.7 Unofficial Patch, make damn sure you use this.

The game is as patched as it is ever going to get, the unofficial patch keeps getting a few updates, but the majority of the fixes are already in place. This is an extremely cool game and it is a damn shame that the developers are gone now. This game is one of the few that I'd say was worth every penny of its original price, bugs or no bugs.

It is reasonably bug free at the latest patch. I am sure every one is tired of me being a fan boy for it but IMHO it is a groundbreaking game. It does get a little FPSish at the end game but it is an exelent RPS. Very replayable as well as the different vamps play very differently.

Yes, Bloodlines is a diamond in the rough. It has an excellent, excellent storyline. Gameplay is around average and if you aren't plagued with bugs throughout the game you're going to love it. I personally bought it at the release, and didn't experience 1/10th of the problems people were reporting.

Thank you for the update. I'm sorry to hear things didn't work out for Troika. I will definitely give this title a try though.

Ditto.

Wow, if it gets that low then i'll definitely pick this one up. Just looking at the screens makes me interested. Any idea if it supports widescreen?

Do I need to have the 1.2 Official patch installed before installing the 1.7?
No but it's a good idea.

As I understand it, you install the official 1.2 patch, then the unofficial patch over top of it. But I deleted the patch data after I put its files in Bloodlines' override folder, so I don't have the readme file on hand. Once you unzip the 1.7 patch, the readme file will tell you what to do with the 1.2 official patch.

Yes, it does actually. Let me get a link to the required patcher for that.

Here

I've personally used this patch, following the instructions on FP and in the readme doc, and it works great at 1680x1050 on my 2005FPW.

Not that I know of, its only a 44KB file though. Waiting in line isn't so bad. PM me if you want me to email it to you.
