I noticed at the end of the demo - it pops up a console command sv_cheat or something, and then the game goes to the Loading screen. I'm thinking for as big as the download is, it's the WHOLE Portal game, just with some sort of server script to "shorten" it.

I tried this last night and after it said it was being added to my account, nothing happened. I already own Portal though. Is there anything in the demo that is not in the regular game?

I think it's safe to say a lot of people in this thread care waaay tooo muuuch about this situation.

Chip firms are businesses...businesses need to make money....businesses use marketing to try and make *more* money.

That's all there really is to it. I'd be surprised if this particular offer caused anyone with a remotely up to date GPU to dump ATi and make the switch to the green camp. God knows if ATi offers some exclusive demo with the 3870x2, I'm not going to go to the trouble of replacing my 8800GT. You'd have to be some new kind of retarded to think that's a wise idea.

Edit: No one's answered my question. Is there any new content in First Slice or is it just a chunk of Portal?

I did this and get nothing more than a shortcut to the game on my desktop, which does nothing. It doesn't even show up on my "games" list.

all i got to say is F valve for giving this extended demo only to nvidia card owners.

I want to try out portal, but alas i own an ati card. Hell, i've spent over 180 dollars on steam, but i dont deserve to try out the game before i buy. Oh, and at one point i have had an nvidia card in the system  Yeah, i'm still bitter that the episode two pack that was suposed to cost 20 and include TF2 and portal, went to 50 because "it includes HL2 and episode 1, its a good deal". BS i bought both of the other games on release day for full price, damnit why would i need a fifty dollar pack that includes them, way to price gouge your loyal customers valve. Give me a pack where i could get the three that should be there for 35 and i'll bite, though 30 seems more appropriate. /steaming mad tantrum

does it look to see what type of card you have? i couldn't even get it to load steam when i clicked the link and i do have an nvidia card.

i also bought the orange box too though, so i already have portal.
