Valve and EA?

So I picked up Half Life 2: Episode one and noticed that it had the EA seal on the bottom of it. WTF!!!! When the hell did EA get the publishing rights for Half Life!!!??

I am beginning to think that EA is INTENTIONALLY trying to create a monopoly!

Didn't EA distribute regular old HL2? I don't think this is new.

No no no its a misprint, its not EA!! its supposed to say SEA or maybe.. EASY somthing. Please confirm that EA have nothing to do with valve 🙁

Vivendi originalyl distributed HL2, but they and Valve got into a big dispute over profit cuts, so they cut ties and EA now distributes Valve's games. They have absolutely nothing to do with the game development though, they only distribute the games in the stores. Since you can buy games directly from Valve through steam, you can completely cut EA out of the loop by doing that.

Steam = no money for EA if that's what you're worried about

That's because Sierra are owned by Vivendi.

But EA picked up the rights to publish the boxed version of HL2/Ep 1. It means nothing in terms of the games development or anything. Valve are not going to get bought out by EA, nor did they fund the development of HL2.

They just distribute the games; they had nothing to do with development of the games themselves, and they have nothing to do with Steam.
