So is see ram is about 100 bucks a 1/2gig if you go for the non spreader type.

Of the major brands ...cruical v kingston v mushkin ... which is best? IYHO.

i've used kingston w/o problems for quite a while. Have used crucial, never used Mushkin though. If you're looking for value, just get whatever is cheapest, it rally doesn't matter all that much unless you are looking for very quick timings.

They are all excellent although many prefer Mushkin. In this case I would just choose the one that has the lowest latencies.

I agree. It's "value" RAM there aren't alot of differences here....

If you are looking for Value RAM than I would go with any name brand (all three are reputable.)

The only thing I would avoid is "house brand" or no-name brand memory because of reliablity and quality concerns.

that's what I quite often use. 🙂 If Kingston is more than 10% more, I go w/ house brands, or infineon.

have you considered corsair? cas2.5 for their value ram line they also have cas3 for $1 less. but I would just pay the extra dollar.

Kingston with the Hynix D43 chips.

I got a pair of 512mb doing 2-3-3-6 at DDR400 and will go all the way up till 210Mhz. Stock was DDR333. 😀
