It'll be fine. Don't expect a lot of OCing out of ValueRAM, but I've always had good experience with Kingston RAM working at rated specs.

ask yourself, why would they sell it if it didn't work?....

It's fine at stock speeds. Value Ram is fine.

Thats pretty good ram and at a reasonable price. Id trust it in my machine. Just make sure its supported by your MB. Im running my A64 on a MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R and that board is oh so picky with ram. Never used the abit kv8-max3, so not sure how selective the ram requirements are.

Kingston Valueram PC2700 is excellent since it almost always overclocks to 3200 at moderate timings. My 2700 valueram can do 2.5/4/4/11 at stock voltage. Not sure about other brands or PC3200 valueram, but if it's Kingston, it'll be just fine at stock speeds.

I've bought value ram before in "bulk" (about 15 at a time) for buildint new office systems. Had 5 doa sticks. Ram is the only thing in a system now that I won't buy cheap.

huh?

whats ram would be the best for my system, preferably around the 120 range? I think Im better off just getting something good instead of regretting it down the road

With ram in my opinion you can't really look "down the road". If you want to be like that you have to go for higher, more expensive, ddr speeds. You won't notice the difference in the speeds really unless you o/c. Since you sound like you might not o/c, value ddr400 (pc3200) value ram would be fine. The corsair type you listed would be a waste of money for you, because you could get a cheaper stick that doesn't o/c. Corsair's XMS series is ment to o/c. Even when you change latenices on your ram without touching anything else, you still won't truely feel the difference, youll only see it in benchmarks. I would stick to value ram. Wasting your money on XMS and "extreme" gibberish would be a waste of money for you in my opinion.

I see what you mean, and yea I wont be OCing, but someone told me that cas latency really matters, but I guess it doesnt..so I guess Ill just go with the mushkin I had before

Cool. I bought some OCZ ram. Good stuff. The mobo had the settings way high and I changed them the next day. Couldn't really tell. On the benchmarks it helped out and it sure sounds cool to says I'm running 2-3-2-5 but other than that, meh.

I don't know if you're aware of this, but portatech.com I've found is a great site for ram. They've got a wizard where you plug in your mobo brand and model, and the memory they come out with on the other side is guaranteed to be compatible with your mobo. It's worth checking out

my kingston pc2700 valueram overclocks to pc3200 easy as pie. i have a stick on crucial valueram on the way as well, the customer reviews on newegg for the kingston and crucial memory sticks are enough to ensure confidence for me.
