I went to a local auction yesterday where they had some fairly large AS400 IBM units and they went for 1.00 each.
Just wondering what the value of the units is.
They worked off 220volts, so I didn't bother with one.
I was surprised that they had all the manuals with them.
About 6 notebooks worth.

I was just wondering if they would have any use now or are they too old to do anything ?
The data one them was 1997.

What are you guys using them for ?

I guess I just hated to see equipment like that, that used to cost so much money, being sent to the landfill when it could have still been used for something.

The guy that bought them even commented that he got stuck with them, they were in the same lot with some office chairs he wanted. When they asked him what they were, he said they were junk and would be junk when he carried them to the landfill.

If got the machine model-type off of the sticker, you can look up the retail value of them with a quick Google (or possibly eBay) search.

Even if they're 10 years old, they probably still have $100 worth of useful replacement parts in them. Those things are built like tanks, and were actually designed to run for that long without failing.

The price they sold for at the auction is the best current estimate of their value, so I agree with Blain :).
