If it is open to the public look at the career pages for both university and see what companies are coming or have come in the past for recruitment. These are the companies that are either 1) actively recruiting because of status or 2) have former graduates that are looking to recruit. Both of these help. If OSU has very few (I doubt it) vs. CMU then CMU is a good bet. Also if you are thinking of PhD in the future then getting published should be something to strive for (getting an RA position could help with that) so the school that will let you work in a lab might help more in the future.

I don't know much about OSU but I doubt highly it is lowly ranked enough to be particularly harmful to your future.

It's simple.

Your education is either an investment in yourself or an expense from your wallet.

You should be able to easily decide which school to go to based on how you look at it.

More expensive != better investment, so it isn't really so simple.

Well Boston University is more expensive than Harvard, so you are absolutely right.

But the OP has the facts about the schools, and it's up to him.

why is everyone talking about Central Michigan University??

FWIW i went to carnegie mellon (ECE undergrad), and I was a pretty bad student. I doubt I could have landed 4 job offers last year if I had gone somewhere else. Of course, I didn't go somewhere else, so this is all just speculation.

I say go with what your heart wants. It sounds like you have worked hard to get where you're at. If having a degree from a big name school has more prestige and comes off the tongue a little better then why not? I couldn't tell you if it helps more in the real world (I'm a freaking high school drop out for crying out loud) but it's a hell of an accomplishment regardless and that's got to be worth something.

When did you graduate? The job market has change substantially since 2007.
