Took granddaughter to McDs

Hamburger (1 slice meat) 0.89
Cheeseburger (1 slice Meat, 1 slice cheese) 0.99
Value added: slice of cheese 0.10

Cheeseburger 0.99
McDouble (2 slice Meat, 1 slice cheese) $1.00
Value added: slice meat 0.01

McDouble $1.00
Double cheeseburger (2 slice Meat, 2 slice cheese) $1.29
Value added: slice of cheese 0.29

Please explain why the same size of cheese cost $0.10 vs $0.29 (Hamburger to cheesburger vs McDouble to Double Cheese
And an extra patty of meat is only $0.01

Does a McDouble have cheese? If not, you need to compare its price to a hamburger, not a cheeseburger. Edit: Also, a double cheeseburger has two slices of cheese.

They are maximizing revenue, not maximizing value. I'm sure there is some algorithm that says that is the correct price.

I eat Mcdoubles with no onions and extra pickles all the time, and for a buck its delicious. But it is two slices of meat and one cheese and still the best fast food burger bargain compared to Wendys (particle meat, size of flat tennis ball) or Sonic (good meat but also tiny).
