valium/prozac etc

so there are for like clinically depressed ppl and whatnot...

so what would happen if a non-depressed person were to take some ??

just out of morbid curiosity...

prozac doesnt do anything, you need to take it daily for several weeks before it starts to affect your brain. This IS an anti-depressant. (AKA something-fluoxetine)

now valium will affect anyone, since it doesnt need to be used repeatedly to have an affect.

valium (AKA diazepam) is a member of the benzodiazepine family. Benzodiazepines are sedatives that cause dose-related depression of the central nervous system. They are useful in treating anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and muscle spasms.

don't sound like an anti depressant to me! It just slows you down/puts you to sleep kind of deal.

valium yup...i think it is a hallucegenic drug...when used in combo with cough syrup, alcohol....it can be deadly...deadly kick...or deadly overdose..

Well, Valium isn't really used to treat depression. Rather, it is used to treat anxiety. If a non-anxious person were to take the drug, it would probably mellow them out a bit.

Prozac, on the other hand is an anti-depressant of the SSRI type. If a non-depressed person were to take this medication, they'd probably feel a little bit of additional anxiety added because the intent of this medicine is to "boost" a person out of their depression while making adjustments to the brain chemicals. However, you have to remember that Prozac takes about 8 weeks before it "kicks in" and starts taking effect. Valium, on the other hand, will display results within an hour of consuming the medication.

It is not quite accurate that Prozac (fluoxetine) will not do anything to a normal person. While it will not make you "feel better" if you are not already depressed, it will still hit you with its side effects. One of the major one's is sexual dysfuntion in men...

Valium on the other hand will chill you out big time, even if you are not anxious, and if you take it long and often enough it can lead to major withdrawal and addiction.

Cheers,
Napalm
