I just picked up some Valerian Root pills to help me sleep. I used to take melatonin but it just hasn't worked for me.

Anyone take Valerian root? Experiences?

It used to give me crazy dreams. I felt like it worked, but it may have just been a placebo. I remember reading something about it not being very good for you recently.

Sleep cocktail - valerian root, passion flower, kava kava, and melatonin. It works. Valerian root is a good calming herb (word valium derived from) but it works better in combination.

Melatonin doesn't work for ANYONE. If it does, it's in their heads. Melatonin in pill form does not cross into the brain, so if it works, it's purely psychological.

Valerian root is effective at calming you down, but if you have trouble waking up in the middle of the night it's not going to help with that.

I've often had Valerian root tea. If you can get past the smell, it's not bad and is effective.

You must have missed the stories about Ambien users "sleep-driving" their cars and snacking in their sleep.
