I just noticed Rihanna in there as well.
I've liked pretty much everything Luc Besson has done, and this is a project he's wanted to do for many years not just something he's cranking out to buy another house.
the visuals are breathtaking!I'd go see it.
I expect more spectacle than riveting plot, but it looks more promising than Ghost In The Shell for example.
In the very least I hope they release an Atmos version of this for a Blu-ray purchase, if I don't get a chance to see it in the theatre. It seems Luc Besson and/or the production companies he works with likes Atmos. The Fifth Element in Atmos is glorious.
FYI, this originates from a french comic book series from the 70s. They were both serialized and also published as "graphic novel", although our market was different than what you have in the US.
Anyway, the bar is set really high. The stories were fantastic and the two main characters really don't take shit from anyone, they had violence, casual nudity, adult humour, death, destruction, drugs and drunkenness, all things which hollywood has proven to *not* be able to cope with.
bracing for disappointment. it will probably wind up being what we, here, call "an american film".

Hmm, I see an interesting looking fantasy flick. Where's the sci-fi?
could be cool, could be shit. one of those things I guess. Why do they credit Luc Besson with Lucy (which no one wants to remember) and not The Professional? weird.
I get a "will be awesomely silly/badass in the way that 300 was" vibe from this. Or it's just 8-too-many bass drops (already 2 in that trailer, for no reason) and I wonder why we should care.
Let’s turn to Ray Bradbury, author of, among other great novels, Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles, who as written in both genres. He described science fiction this way:
Science fiction is really sociological studies of the future, things that the writer believes are going to happen by putting two and two together . . . Science fiction is a logical or mathematical projection of the future.
No, it's not like saying that. The bass drops are that thing they started putting in every damn movie trailer a few years back, that BWWWWWAAAAAAAAAA sound. And dammit stop making me look up stuff! Guess I am a newbie to bass drops but two many? That's like saying your music has too many notes. I like the sudo beatles soundtrack.

Do you watch trailers at home, on a system without a subwoofer?I had never heard of it, I never noticed its evil effects? And now I'm not sure I want to know. I mean I was blissfully un aware and happy with the sound from movie trailers lately, now Instead of watching the trailer I will looking for these BWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAA sounds.
Curse you all!
