Seems to be the decade of Sci-Fi movies, and If you go by trailers this is the movie I am looking forward to this year. I might actually have to go see it on the big screen to,

Go full screen and volume up! :p

I'd go see it.

I expect more spectacle than riveting plot, but it looks more promising than Ghost In The Shell for example.

In the very least I hope they release an Atmos version of this for a Blu-ray purchase, if I don't get a chance to see it in the theatre. It seems Luc Besson and/or the production companies he works with likes Atmos. The Fifth Element in Atmos is glorious.

I've liked pretty much everything Luc Besson has done, and this is a project he's wanted to do for many years not just something he's cranking out to buy another house.

Looks like it's aimed mostly at the pre-teen set...but still...I'll probably watch it once it hits the Redbox.

Same here, 5th Element was one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies. All the characters were great in it.

FYI, this originates from a french comic book series from the 70s. They were both serialized and also published as "graphic novel", although our market was different than what you have in the US.
Anyway, the bar is set really high. The stories were fantastic and the two main characters really don't take shit from anyone, they had violence, casual nudity, adult humour, death, destruction, drugs and drunkenness, all things which hollywood has proven to *not* be able to cope with.

bracing for disappointment. it will probably wind up being what we, here, call "an american film".

Screw you guys, Battleship was a fun movie. Movies are supposed to be a fun and enjoyable way to pass a few hours of leisure time. This one looks like it will fit that bill. I applaud and revere the truly great movies when we get one, but I can appreciate a greasy, bacon cheeseburger of a movie too.

If you guys must have an Oscar worthy movie before you'll give up 90 minutes of your valuable life, well you should just take a nose dive off of the fun train right now and make more room for the rest of us.

Hmm, I see an interesting looking fantasy flick. Where's the sci-fi?

could be cool, could be shit. one of those things I guess. Why do they credit Luc Besson with Lucy (which no one wants to remember) and not The Professional? weird.

I get a "will be awesomely silly/badass in the way that 300 was" vibe from this. Or it's just 8-too-many bass drops (already 2 in that trailer, for no reason) and I wonder why we should care.

I just hope there's a Bill Paxton cameo.

What we call French films here, boring, movies about elitism, snobbery, snail eating, hairy underarms, and hating of america.

I see just the opposite, a Sci-Fi flick. Fantasy to me is more like LoTR Willow etc. If you follow Rad Bradbury's interpretation of what Sc- Fi is. this fits the spot.

Let’s turn to Ray Bradbury, author of, among other great novels, Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles, who as written in both genres. He described science fiction this way:

Science fiction is really sociological studies of the future, things that the writer believes are going to happen by putting two and two together . . . Science fiction is a logical or mathematical projection of the future.

And dammit stop making me look up stuff! Guess I am a newbie to bass drops but two many? That's like saying your music has too many notes. I like the sudo beatles soundtrack.

No, it's not like saying that. The bass drops are that thing they started putting in every damn movie trailer a few years back, that BWWWWWAAAAAAAAAA sound.

I had never heard of it, I never noticed its evil effects? And now I'm not sure I want to know. I mean I was blissfully un aware and happy with the sound from movie trailers lately, now Instead of watching the trailer I will looking for these BWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAA sounds.

Curse you all!

Do you watch trailers at home, on a system without a subwoofer?

That's called an anchor. It invokes an emotion. Like Pavlov's dog feeling hunger from a sound.

Well that a good point mostly on my pc which does not have a subwoofer. I Haven't seen a trailer on TV or Nothing but trailers but I only use my audio system w/subwoofer when I am watching movies atm.
