So a local langerie store put an ad in the school paper recently for their Valentine's Day sale. They picked a "decent" picture from the 50's that wasn't too horrible. Here's a link to a scan I made of the ad (this is after a modification, so you'll have to use your imagination for what it looked like before).

Persian Peacock

Students are in full chaos mode. Half don't want porn in their paper, the other half think as long as it's a cartoon, and not a realistic size, it can't be porn. So I wrote a letter to the paper. Here it is.

Hey, did anyone catch that there was some controversy over some Persian Peacock ad? I'm starting to feel like a parent screaming at my two children in the backseat "Don't make me pull this car over!!"

Could both sides please get over it? We have wars going on and a country going to crap and all you people can argue about is a stupid ad from the 40's!

For those against it, congratulations, you've now given the Persian Peacock more publicity than it could have ever hoped for. Everyone knows who they are now. No wonder they continue to use the paper. You give it such great publicity.

For those not against it, congratulations, you've now show that it's ok to look at porn so long as the people it portrays are not their actual height, or because they're cartoons. I'll have to renew my subscription to hard core anime, so thanks for the justification.

There, now everyone has made their point. Can we get on with life now?

Anyone think I'm going overboard with this? I think it's about one of the stupidest arguments of all time, and I hate porn.

EDIT: Yes, she does actually have something covering her breast in the real picture. A bra or something, I think.

WTF kind of school do you go to? Is the paper owned by the school, or is it independent? Our paper has lingerie ads every day, most with real women wearing much less than that and no one complains...
 
The last issue of our school paper had full color victoria's secret ads in it. But then again, I don't live in Utah.

My opinion is that the students "in chaos" and anyone who bothers to write the paper about it is going overboard.
